So what happens when you schedule a free home exterior estimate with Presidential Exteriors? Here’s what to expect when you meet with our team.
Step 1: Confirming Your Homeownership and Property Details
We’re going to confirm the address, your name, that you own the home, and that you’re even allowed to get estimates.
Here’s a quick list of examples of why we do this:
- Homeowners’ kids (or adult children) trying to schedule estimates on homes they don’t own or pay for.
- Ex-wives and ex-husbands trying to schedule estimates for homes they no longer have the right to.
- People trying to schedule estimates on homes they haven’t closed on yet.
- Renters trying to make changes to properties they don’t own.
And a lot of other silly stuff. I could go on, but I don’t want to give you any ideas.
Step 2: Confirmation Calls. Yes, Two of Them
Why twice? I’m glad you asked.
Because people are busy. And sometimes… folks just forget. You know how it feels when you take time off work waiting for an appliance delivery between 2 and 4, and it never shows up? (That actually happened to me recently with a dishwasher.) That same frustration? We feel it when we confirm your appointment the day before, fight through DC traffic to be at your house by 6 PM… and you “forgot and got stuck at work.”
So yeah—we confirm the day before, and then again a couple of hours before. Not because we like bothering you, but because we love our people—and they hate driving to empty houses.
Also, yes… if you’ve read one of those “They called me five times” reviews—you’re right, Karen. We did. You know why? Because you Didn’t. Answer. Any. Of. The. Calls. If you had picked up and told us you couldn’t make it, we’d have gladly saved the time and energy.
Even after two confirmation calls, we still show up to an empty house more than 5% of the time. This appointment system is built around respect for everyone’s time—ours and yours.
Step 3: Everyone Needs to Be There
Now that that’s clarified, let’s talk about another reason we don’t have a perfect 5.0 rating (even though our installation teams deserve one—good luck finding a bad review about our craftsmanship).
We ask for all decision-makers to be present. This isn’t a pressure tactic—it’s about clarity.
We’ve seen it too many times: one spouse books the appointment, the other can’t attend, and three weeks later, we’re pulling brand-new shingles off the roof because someone thought they picked Charcoal and someone else swears it was Pewter Gray.
We’ve had the police called on our reps because the husband forgot to tell his wife he booked an estimate.
At least once a year, we redo work that was already completed—because one partner “remembers” picking a color, while we have paperwork showing their spouse approved something else.
To avoid this, we ask that all decision-makers be present for:
- The estimate
- Contract signing
- Project planning sessions
- Final walkthroughs
Why? Because we want to keep everyone happy. And we want to make sure everyone’s questions are answered. No offense, but if our project managers communicated like some couples do… nothing would ever get installed.
Having all decision-makers present helps your project go smoothly, saves time, and keeps everyone sane. It’ll probably save you money on couples counseling, too.
Bottom Line: Respect for Everyone’s Time
So. Now you know what to expect when scheduling, why we ask questions, and why we want everyone involved.
